AI voice agents for lenders: answer every borrower, never quote a rate

Vantage Systems builds AI (artificial intelligence) voice agents for mortgage and consumer lenders that call new web leads within moments, answer loan status questions from your loan origination system (LOS) and book appointments with licensed loan officers. The agent gives the recording and consent disclosures you require, never quotes rates or terms, and hands anything that needs a license to a person.

Key facts

What it is
An inbound and outbound phone agent for speed to lead, status calls and loan officer scheduling.
Who it is for
Mortgage, reverse mortgage and consumer lenders whose call volume outruns their loan officers.

Can an AI voice agent call web leads without breaking consent rules?

Yes, provided consent is captured properly and the agent only dials leads who gave it. Under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Federal Communications Commission treats AI-generated voices as artificial voices, so an outbound call from the agent needs the borrower's prior express consent, and prior express written consent for marketing calls. We wire the agent to read the consent record on the lead before it dials and to honor a do-not-call request on the spot.

Speed to lead is why most lenders start here. A borrower who fills in a rate form at 9 p.m. hears from you while still at the screen, answers a few questions about purpose, property and timeline, and ends the call with a time on a loan officer's calendar.

What does the agent say when a caller asks for today's rate?

It explains that a licensed loan officer will go over pricing, then books that conversation. In residential mortgage lending, offering or negotiating loan terms is loan originator activity that requires a license or federal registration under the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act and state rules, so the agent is built never to do it, and we test that with callers who push.

Status calls are a different matter. Once identity is verified, a borrower asking whether the appraisal is back or which documents are outstanding can hear the answer read straight from the LOS, with anything unusual routed to the processor.

How are call recording and disclosures handled?

The agent opens with wording your compliance team writes. California and several other states generally require every party's consent to record a call, so whether and how the agent announces recording is decided with your compliance team before launch, not left to a guess about where the caller lives.

Each call produces a transcript and a summary, plus a recording where you choose to record, attached to the borrower in your customer relationship management system, whether that is a custom CRM built for lenders or one you already run. Loan documents that arrive afterward can go to our loan document agent.

What we build for lenders

  • Consent-checked lead response

Outbound calls to new web and partner leads, with qualifying questions and a booked appointment at the end.

  • Loan status line

Identity verification, then milestone answers from the LOS, with processors notified when a borrower needs them.

  • Loan officer scheduling

Appointments placed by state license, language and product, with the lead summary waiting in the file.

  • Compliance record

Disclosures, recordings, transcripts and transfer points stored per call for audit and coaching.

The closest lending work we have published

We built a custom CRM for a reverse mortgage lender around its pipeline stages and compliance checkpoints, with artificial intelligence handling routine follow-up and record keeping. It is not a voice agent case study. It is the kind of system a lending voice agent writes into, and its compliance checkpoints are the same ones a voice agent has to respect.

How an engagement works

  1. Compliance review first

We work with your compliance officer to write the disclosures, consent checks and the list of things the agent must never say.

  2. Connect lead sources and the LOS

Web forms, lead vendors and your loan origination system are connected so the agent can see consent, milestones and calendars.

  3. Test with difficult callers

Scripted callers ask for rates, push for advice and refuse disclosures, and every miss is fixed before a borrower hears the agent.

  4. Launch one channel, then widen

Status calls or after-hours web leads go first, and outbound follow-up expands once compliance has reviewed real recordings.

Frequently asked questions

Does the agent take loan applications?

No. It gathers basic qualifying information and books time with a loan officer, who takes the application. Exactly where that line sits for your products is your compliance team's call, and we build to it.

How does it verify a borrower before discussing a loan?

With the factors you choose, such as date of birth and the last digits of the loan number, before any status is read. A failed check ends in a staff callback, not a second guess.

Is it suitable for reverse mortgage callers?

Yes, with a slower pace and plainer wording that many older borrowers prefer. An adult child is often on the line, so the agent notes who else is present and routes counseling questions to your staff.

What does the loan officer see after a booked call?

A summary on the borrower record before the appointment starts. It lists the loan purpose, property type, timeline and the questions the borrower asked, so the loan officer picks up where the agent left off instead of starting over.

What happens when the agent is unsure?

It hands off. A transfer or a booked callback beats an answer it cannot back up, and the moment is flagged in the summary.
